Anastasia цветок [Mother]

Anastasia was born 26 July 2003 and raised by both her muggle parents in Samara, Russia. Her mother Duscha, worked as a librarian until her death in 2032. Her father Lev, worked as an archivist and was a professor of his field at the Samara State University in Samara, Russia until his death in 2024. Anastasia was the younger of two children her brother Vladimir being three years older. The siblings lived in a strict, realist household. Anastasia loved to dream; however, and caused her family much grief as she went through her schooling. It was the fact that she was brilliant and well-read that her parents allowed her to remain in their house. Anastasia had been dreaming of one day becoming a designer or an author. Therefore, when she received a full scholarship to pursue a degree in Literature at the University of Milan in Italy, she took the opportunity to leave Russia.

Her family did not fully support her leaving Russia for such a degree; however, they wanted her to go to university and hoped she would change her mind about her degree once she got there. Anastasia left home at 18-years-old to pursue her dream. One summer in her second year of university, Anastasia decided to travel across Italy before heading back to Russia. By chance she traveled through Bari, Italy and was stopped by who she thought was the love of her life, Valentino Risatina. They saw each other every day for two weeks before Valentino proposed and Anastasia convinced him to come back to Russia to meet her family before their wedding. Her family found Valentino to have a strange aura about him and he wore strange clothing that did not fit the current fashion fads. They did not like him and tried to kibosh their wedding. Therefore, the lovebirds saw that all they could do was to run away back to Italy and get married knowing full well that Anastasia would no longer be in contact with her family. All that she has of her family are two old photos, the death certificates of her parents (who left nothing for her in their will) and a marriage announcement about her brother and his bride. Valentino and Anastasia got married with his family’s blessing the 8 June 2023 in London, England where they immigrated to a few months later. Then on 13 August 2026 their only child, Anja was born.

Anastasia's Shoebox
« Reply #1 on: June 29, 2012, 07:07:40 PM »
When Anja was looking in Anastasia's closet for a shirt she knew her mother had borrowed from her, Anja came across something interesting. At the very back of her mother's closet, haphazardly covered by dirty laundry lay a partially closed shoebox. The whole situation looked odd to Anja, as though her mother had left the shoebox and try to hide it from view in a hurry. It was obviously something her mother had not wanted her to see, but Anja had a sudden surge of curiosity and an urge to pry come over her. She looked and listened behind her to see if her mother was within the area. When she heard her mother busy in the kitchen, Anja bent down and lifted the cover of the shoebox. The shoebox was purple and once held one of her mother's pairs of high heels she wore to the theatre. Inside was a whole bunch of photos Anja had never seen before in her life.

Inside the shoebox there were also a floor plan of their apartment, death certificates of what Anja could only assume was her maternal grandparents, a marriage certificate from a man name Vladimir. Anja was completely overwhelmed by the amount of information stashed in the shoebox. She could have sat there for hours sifting through all the photographs. She just came across what looked like some unfinished family tree charts when she heard her mother behind her.
"What are you doing in here Ani? What is that you are looking at? Is that my shoebox?" Anja could hear a note of panic in her mother's voice when she looked up. Anja had a look of guilt all over her face that she so desperately tried to hide. She had no idea why she felt guilty. More than anything Anja was a overwhelmed and hurt that her mother had all this information about her family and had not shared it with her.
"I was looking for my royal blue shirt you borrowed when I came across this under some dirty laundry. What is this Mama? Why haven't I seen any of these photos before? Are these pictures of me? Why have you hid all this from me for all these years?" The more questions Anja asked of her mother the more angrier she became.
"How could you do this Mama! Why did you LIE?" Anja let the box tip all over the floor in her new found rage, scattering the contents all over. Her mother let out an outraged cry and started to carefully gather up the precious contents of her shoebox.
"You had no right to go snooping through my things, Anja! No right!" Anastasia shouted at her daughter. "I did not lie to you. I was protecting you. Your father never wanted you to see this--"
"Don't go blaming my father when you had the contents all along, Mother!" Anja interrupted with even more hurt in her voice and tears started to stream down her cheeks in her anger. "I never needed protecting, all I needed and ever wanted was the truth. The truth about who I am, who my father was. Who you are!" Anja exclaimed before she collapsed to the floor and outright sobbed.

Anastasia placed all the information back in the shoebox and looked at it. Then she looked at her daughter. "You are right... I should have shared all this with you years ago." Anastasia stated with tears also streaming down her face. She placed the shoebox on the bed and knelt down next to her daughter, pulling her into a hug. "I will tell you everything I know... if you still want to hear it...."

~*~*~

...Anja Risatina and her mother Anastasia Цветок lay on her bed with a shoebox between them. The contents of the shoebox was scattered in front of the two ladies as was a box of tissues for their tears.

Name: Alison Taggart | Year: 5
Position: Acquaintances/Classmate // Getting to Know You
History:

"Anja is one of those girls that you can't help but like. She has a straightforward way of speaking, and she's helpful and intelligent. That goes a long way with me. I first met her last year in classes, and later she joined the Honorable Society of Adventurers after a rather exciting adventure. She's a little excitable, but I think that's just her enthusiasm for things. The friends you make now in school will last a lifetime, and that's a rule I live by.  Other than the occasional conversation or study talk, I haven't spent much time with her, but I can already tell she's someone I want to learn more about."

Name: Alan Darcy | Year: 5
Position: Acquaintances/Classmate//Getting to Know You
History:

"I met Anja through friends, for the most part. She's part of the study group I belong to, and she's a good addition, too. She's smart and funny, and just a bit of an exotic, 'cuz I heard she speaks Russian and other things besides. When we were searching for clues to Claude's disappearance, she went along. She's also good at researching all kinds of things, and from what Hugo tells me, she knows her magical history. I gotta admire anyone that can keep all those facts straight. Well maybe sometime I can help her with her flying, and she can teach me history. She's a nice girl, and I'm looking forward to working with her more."

Name: Cadmus Carmondy | Year: 2 (almost)

Position: Friend// That's What Friends Are For

History: "Anja and I's very first interaction may not have indicated we would become friends. I was stupidly practicing a charm on one of my textbooks and Anja, being the caring and sensitive girl that everyone loves, came to its rescue. But we passed that little issue just fine, before running into another. There was a pretty bad storm that evening, and who would've guessed the daring savior had a fear of storms! But me and Matthew Garrow- alright, to be fair it was mostly Matt and his delightful storytelling while we snuggled- helped her through it. Anja might be able to chatter more than me, which is saying a lot, but is also why we get along well, I think. She's smart too, boasting a deep memory, such as with the 'roller cookers'. Anja's just so much fun too, and I can't wait to have more adventures with her in the future!"

History: "Meeting Anja for the first time, I wasn't quite so fond of her. But as our meeting carried on I found that she could hold herself a spot in my heart as a friend. I enjoyed telling her and Cadmus stories that I had heard as a child and I am much lookin forward to sharing more stormy nights storytelling with her."

Name: Hugo Hamilton | Year: 5
Position: Good Friend // You’ve Got a Friend in Me
History:

"Meeting Anja was a pleasant surprise, and whatever she says about me heroically rescuing her from a pile of books, we had a good laugh. Over time, we found a lot of common ground. After just a short time, I invited her to join up with the study group, because she's extremely adept at research and history. She's been invaluable in some investigations of the Honorable Society, and she's also fun to be around, regardless of what we're doing. Now we're fast friends, and I admire her honesty and quick mind, not to mention that she's a charismatic girl, too. She's going to go far in school, and undoubtedly afterwards."
