Cerise Valassion
« on: February 02, 2011, 07:03:08 PM »
Name: Cerise Valassion

Gender: Female

Age: 11

Birthday: July 5th

House: Ravenclaw

Please list your character's three personal desires:
1.To live life as an adventure
2.To make her parents proud of her accomplishments at Hogwarts
3.To become a healer, and find cures for some of the uncured magical diseases

What is your character's main weakness? Cerise has one leg slightly shorter than the other, and it makes her walk with a distinct limp, and this makes her slow and clumsy. This has an indirect effect of making her less confident than many girls her age.

What is your character's main strength? She has an inner inventiveness and creativity that more than makes up for her lack of physical ability.

"Young lady, your creativity and your mind are some of your greatest assets, and they are exceptional; you ought to forget your difficulty and allow that to bolster your confidence.  I see a great future ahead of you; I may only be a tatty old hat, but set your aims high!  I am very close to sorting you into Hufflepuff due to your desire to make your parents proud, but I feel you'll be most nurtured in Ravenclaw!"

Description: Cerise is still skinny and petite because of her age, but she has a nice face and pretty long blond hair that she wears mid-length. Her eyes are blue and she has long, well defined lashes and arched eyebrows. Her mouth is seemingly small, although she has a deceptively wide smile with very good teeth. Outwardly, Cerise’s short leg isn't apparent when at rest, and although she stands about 4’10” tall now, she seems smaller because of how she stands.  Her skin is fair, although it has olive tones when she's been in the sun (which is rare). Cerise is conservatively though tastefully dressed (rose color is her favorite) when she's not in her Hogwarts uniform, and prefers skirt/blouse or longer dresses when she's not at a school function. She wears flat shoes almost always, and this also tends to hide her height.

Personality: From an early age, Cerise had to learn to compensate for her physical limitation. Although hardly crippling, her limp causes her to be clumsy. As a result, she's very careful, and thinks things through thoroughly before she dives into any situation. She's become a sunny person, often laughing and smiling, but she only feels comfortable amongst people she knows and trusts. She's emotionally mature because of her physical deformity, but it also makes her more vulnerable to teasing, and she often shields herself by keeping to herself. She loves to read, paint, and just sit and invent something and do experiments. This scientific personality makes her more introverted than social, but in her own circle, she's active and talkative. By nature a good and honest person, Cerise is perceptive of other people and their motives, and is careful about letting her trust go too far. She's no fool, even if she's young and still innocent to the world at large.  She's very proud to have been given the opportunity to attend Hogwarts.

Family background: Cerise was born in France, although her parents, Jean and Mireille Valassion moved to England shortly after her birth. Her father was pursuing a Quidditch career with a UK team at the time, although eh was ultimately not successful at his chosen profession.  Her parents liked the tiny wizard village of Pluckley Green, and decided to stay on. Jean soon found work as a publicist for the World Quidditch League, while his wife went back to work teaching primary magical school for young witches and wizards as she had before Cerise was born. The birth was very difficult for Mireille, and the couple had no other children. Cerise’s leg was damaged during the birth, and never healed quite properly. Magical treatments failed to restore it completely to normal, and she was left with the limp she has today. However, her family was a close and loving one, and Cerise was a well-adjusted, good natured child, who very much loves her parents.  In her years prior to receiving her Hogwarts letter, the Valassions in La Rochelle France wished for their niece to return and be educated at Beauxbatons, but Jean and Mireille accepted their child's wish that she attend Hogwarts, as she was effectively a British child now. This caused some dissent with her relatives and cousins she left behind, and there's little correspondence with them today. She's never been to visit any of her cousins as a result. The Valassions themselves are an old wizarding family that dates back to Huguenot War era in France, but they could hardly be considered pureblood now. Cerise has a small set of china angel figurines handed down from her paternal grandmother. They're heirlooms, and have various unbreakable charms on them. The family home is a modest cottage as befits the small family; and although the family income is modest, they make out well, and Cerise never lack for books and supplies.

“Talented at Potions” (non-magical) (2 points)

Cerise has a minor disability that couldn’t be cured by magical means (Her leg) So, she has always had the dream to become a Healer to help prevent some of the diseases and birth accidents that caused her bad leg. She’s been supported by her parenst in this, and even as  First Year, she has a good knowledge of magical and non-magical herbs from her mother, who farms these things. I would like to make her talented at potions (and maybe later at herbology when she has enough points) to support her dream of becoming a Healer. I think it fits with her personality, and Ravenclaw smarts.

Poor at: Muggle Studies

Cerise was an only child, and from birth had little exposure to the muggle world because she was somewhat sheltered as a child. Her injury made her parents keep her away from non-magical communities, so she is very naďve when it comes to muggles and their lifestyle. She also doesn’t need to interact with muggles much owing to her passion for magical remedies, herbology, and so on. She would definitely have neglected understanding muggles, although she’s a nice girl, and this doesn’t mean she dislikes them. In fact, she’d probably be curious and misinformed.
