|| Sometimes the past just needs to be buried ||

As soon as she was born, it was always known that there was a chance she could go wrong in life.  She wasn't raised under the most desirable of circumstances.  Aria was born on a cold October night in a small room in an orphanage in the middle of nowhere in England.  As soon as she was born, Aria's mother rushed off never to be see again.  She stayed only long enough to leave her name on the birth certificate and name her young daughter.  As a young child, she was a reckless recluse.  Getting into fights was normal for her.  If she so much as sensed a blow to her pride, the poor child who insulted her would be on the floor getting a beating until someone could pull Aria off. 

As she got a little older, the fact that she hadn't been adopted yet made Aria into a more silent child.  It was a well-known fact in the orphanage that if you reached a certain age and you weren't adopted yet, that your chances narrowed even more.  Prospective parents preferred little babies that they can cuddle to older children who were already showing signs of growing up.  When other kids were running around in the yard together, she would just sit on the front steps and watch.  She could never be convinced to play.  That was what made her appealing to the Uley family when they came in search of a child when she was 7.  A minor noble class of the Wizarding world, Ansley and William Uley needed a child they could use to raise their family out of the gutters and back up to their old glory.  They had come of the very steps that she always sat on and were drawn to her right away.  A small silent child who had more determination in her little finger then most people had all together.  Several weeks after the Uley family visited the nameless orphanage, Aria was rushed off and into their clutches. 

There in Uley manor, Aria was raised to expect the best and be the best.  She was given classes in everything her mother wanted her to take.  Etiquette, dance, drawing, flying, a little bit of magic.  She touched into it all.  Competition was second-nature and it gave her the drive to plow through every lesson until she tired her tutor out.  It was there that the tendency to crush anyone in her path no matter the means was born.  Ansley did not give her adoptive daughter any chances to make excuses.  Any mistakes went punished and any well made choices were rewarded appropriately.  In the 4 years before her acceptance to Hogwarts, Aria grew up quickly.  As an orphan, she already knew that she would do whatever it takes to survive.  The Uleys simply gave her the means to that.  To thank them, she told herself that she would do everything she could to help them back up again.  Now she's at Hogwarts for the first time and she intends to use it to every advantage.
