For a generally happy person, Selina was not in a very good mood. Her husband was away again, Finn had crossed lines that she felt very firmly could not be uncrossed, and every woman in this castle who'd been married for five minutes was popping out a baby, and she...she was alone in their rooms and stuck here teaching. She'd come here to teach in order to be with him, and she'd discovered much to her surprise that she liked it and that she wasn't awful at it. But it wasn't the life, the career she'd pictured for herself. All of that had been all right when she was here with Phil, when he was there to cuddle up to at night. Merlin, she missed him. She missed him, she missed having someone to talk to. Selina Cross-Reed, loudmouth and overly friendly ditz had finally found herself feeling very...lonely.
But lonely wasn't an excuse to miss class, nor was she going to let the students see that she was bothered. Of course, she might forget (though whether that was to forget to keep it from them or momentarily be so distracted that she'd forget that she was upset and lonely, she couldn't say because either was just as likely of an option). But she was going to start out with remembering and take it from there. That had worked well for her up until now. For her to just take things as they came, go with the flow. You got farther faster that way, she reminded herself as she looked over the classroom. There wasn't much to look over. Desks in neat rows, clean board. There didn't need to be a whole lot ready when the students came in, just her mind and her lesson plan. Now, she just needed those students. Selina hopped up onto the front of her desk and watched the door, conscious of keeping her face worry-free, pleasant, and welcoming.

Bella was just about sick of this frigid weather. It was the near the end of the winter and the sun seemed to be shining through more often but the frost was still on the windows and snow still covered the grounds. The corridors seemed more chilly than usual today even and the walk to History of Magic seemed to drag on forever. Bella tried delaying her time enough so she wouldn't be one of the first students inside the room but she just couldn't stand to cold any longer. Merlin, they should have warned the students you now need to wear your winter coats inside as well. Tugging the sleeves of her robe down farther and wrapping herself tighter inside it, Bella pushed the large wooden door open with a sigh.
Of course she had to be the first student here. As if that didn't make things awkward. Something similar to what you would call a smile crossed Bella's lips as she met the eyes of the Professor. She inwardly pleaded more students would fill the room soon as she walked over to a desk as far away from the front as possibly, seat 31. Bella swung her feet up onto the seat of the desk in front of her and tapped her fingers against the desktop. She hoped the class would pass quickly and as pain free as possible, History of Magic wasn't usually much an exhilarating subject in Bella's opinion.

Another class was due to be attended. Having her family back at the Hogs Head, Britnay found she was wondering around quite a lot lately, but she did not mind. If it meant completing her studies with good marks and seeing her family as well, then she would do it. Today though, it would be for History of Magic. Britnay did not know what she thought about this lesson. She was always into History, but was what they learnt to what she liked to learn? It was half and half really, she felt she could learn more from books, but she could never know what each new lesson would bring and so she would attend, even if it meant being up early to make sure Zach had been fed and settled for the day with things to do and then she headed to Hogwarts.
It had been tricky since Christmas with everything, and though sometimes some things started to look up and be better, there were other times when it did not. Britnay knew it would be a while before things get back to how they had. Or maybe they would never do, but at least she hoped it would get better. Letting out a sigh, she moved to the History class, moving in through the door and taking a quick sweeping look around. There was only one other student there. Somebody who Britnay did not see very often around, but not whom she would actually go up to either. Taking note of what seats there were, Britnay decided to take the closest one, like always, the seat of the back right corner. Seat 40. That seat was always more secluded and less welcoming for others to be seated near her. Britnay did not know if she wanted anyone near her today, but that could not be fully told until somebody did. Her mood was odd really and knowing what she wanted or felt was not so clear at this stage.

As was often the case, Marco was early for his History of Magic lesson. And, as was also increasingly common, he was alone. This didn’t particularly bother him, as besides his usual desire to have Alex by his side at all times and his wish to see his friends more often, Marco didn’t mind being alone. In fact, he had been very used to it before he’d come to Hogwarts. At home he spent a lot of time by himself, being an only child with two parents who worked long hours. This was really how he had developed his passion for reading. That had been part of the big leap he had made in leaving home and coming to school - sharing a dorm with other Gryffindor boys had meant that Marco was practically never alone. But of course at this stage he was so completely used to company, spending a great majority of his time with Alex, that now it felt strange to be alone.
Entering the classroom Marco found it almost empty, with only two students already there. He spotted Bella immediately, and he was unsurprised to see that she was without her boyfriend. Jonathan’s class attendance had dropped off steadily after his initial burst of enthusiasm, as Marco had predicted but greatly hoped against. He smiled widely at Bella in greeting but didn’t approach her - she, like the Slytherin girl right in the far corner, was sitting in the back row of seats. As a general rule Marco sat as close to the front of the class as he could, particularly when he didn’t have Alex there to complain and tug him childishly by the hand towards the back of the room. Instead, he headed over to seat 04, offering a polite ‘Good morning,’ to Professor Cross with a shy smile. Ordinarily he was too timid for this, but in the absence of any other students it would have been rude not to greet her as he took a seat right in front of her and his politeness prevailed. After retrieving his quill and parchment from his bag, Marco sat quietly in his seat as he waited for the lesson to begin.

Toby wasn't a big fan of being early, she liked to make an entrance, and if she didn't she at least liked to be able to sit with a group of friends that was already established. She was dressed pretty simply for class, well simply for her. A few off the wall pieces of jewelry, a tee shirt that said something and ripped jeans, what more was there? History was, at best, boring. At worst she felt like her eye balls were about to dry up and fall out and the professor, who got sadistic enjoyment out of torturing them, would then feed them to her pet pirhanas. Add on top of that the freezing, dreary weather and the fact that this class was right before lunch, which coincidentally, she was starving, and it was looking like the type of thing only an over-eager masochist would attend. So here she was, early, hungry, cold and alone. Taking a seat on her own in 35 she got out a notebook and ripped out a page, folding oragami cranes. On one she wrote Reserved for Aria and on the other she wrote Reserved for Luke and sent them flying around above seats 34 and 36, directly next to hers. She didn't want to sit next to anyone else and she didn't particularly want to be friends with anyone else either. She had her little group these days and that was just lovely. They were all she wanted and needed, and the group was one person larger since last year. No one could say she wasn't branching out at least a little bit she thought with a small grin, watching the crane flap around.

Benji hated this class. He really did. So why couldn't he convince himself to skip it? Because he took after his father and Grandmother Juno when it came to that. You were here to learn. Otherwise, why bother sending you to school. There was a set curriculum, and that was that. You went no matter what. So here Benji was on his way to his most hated class. At least it was a short walk up from the Basement. He had no idea why he went up so early, if the walk was so short. But he had, and now, he was looking into a mostly empty room.
There were only a few scattered students in the room. And only one he knew personally. And she.... well, she was a whole different story. He should sit nearby her though right? On one hand, he would prefer to sit in the back of this class anyways. On the other hand, professors (in general) were more inclined to check the back for trouble makers. On the other hand, did he really want to sit either next to someone he didn't know, or worry about who was going to sit down next to him? Not really. Well, two to one, that was easy. He gently slid into seat 39, next to.... his third cousin? No.. it was still to weird to think of her like that.

Luke was a strange breed of man. He was cold and unemotional to most people he met, yet he loved his girlfriend more than anything. He hated most other people with a passion and preferred to be alone on most days, yet if Aria was around he would gladly sit and talk with her. He was a walking contradiction on most days. His name itself was a contradiction. Every Bradford before him had be an exceptional wizard. And Luke was completely pathetic at using his wand. Which was why the boy was so fond of classes like History of Magic. To him, it was much easier to use brain power than the wand. If he hadn’t been such a completely dreadful person, maybe the sorting hat would have put him in Ravenclaw… Of course, his father would have murdered him before he’d even have been able to don the robes.
He eagerly made his way down to class, not bothering to wait for Arai today. He had learned the hard way that girls took way to long to get ready. While he liked to preen just as much as any boy, he simply didn’t have the patience to wait. Entering the classroom, he was glad to see that it was set up normally. Lecture style. It was a beautiful sight. Scanning the room, Luke caught sight of origami cranes floating in the air momentarily, before they landed on tables on either side of his girlfriend. Why how nice, presents. Taking a seat next to Toby in 36 , he lifted up the crane to inspect it. Impressive. Giving her a sidelong glance, Luke smirked. And then he caught a glimpse of her shirt, and smirked even further. “A token of your love I take it?”[/color] He winked at the girl as his brain fondly flashed a memory of gummy worms…
