"I love you, I want us to last, too. I'm all in now, babe, really I am. Besides, I hear makeup shenanigans is really great," he said, smiling through his pained face. He was committed to this girl, and even if his friends thought they were nuts for being together now, he couldn't deny what he felt inside. He coulnd't disprove all the ways she turned him on and made him well with himself. She'd loved him unconditionally and he couldn't imagine finding that again any time soon. He had to work around her brother, but it was what he had to do. "We have to stay positive," he said. "We can't get down on ourselves," he said. "I wouldn't have ever made it through school without trying, and I know we'll be great. We just have to keep that vision. It's a beautiful vision of us," he said.
He shook his head and denied everything she said about him being strong enough without her. "Yes, dammit, I do need you," he said. "Don't you see? Someones got to get you out of trouble, and I need you to steer me right so I stay out of trouble too. Where else am I going to find someone like you?" he said, almost impatiently. He held onto her as tight as he dared. He was afraid of what he'd said before, and that it would come back to haunt him. "See I already made you doubt your worth to me, so just don't, babe, don't" he said. "Otherwise I'll call in my annoying relatives and take testimony or something," he said. "I want to make you proud, and the fact that you are proud of me shows what a man you've made out of this boy," he said. "You did that. No one else. I had to let your love in, but that's all," he said.
